My guest today, Paul Salter, is a Registered Dietitian and Sustainable Weight-Loss Specialist who stopped associating himself with the weight-loss industry long ago.

He is the host of The Screw The Scale Podcast (Now The 5% Way Podcast), an Author, and founder of The 5% Fundamentals Program and The 5% Community.

Since 2013, he has served as the lead Nutrition Writer and Nutrition Editor for Bodybuilding.com and as a Sports Nutrition Consultant and Coach for Renaissance Periodization. 

During this time he also worked one-on-one with more than 1,450 men and women, helping them to collectively lose tens of thousands of pounds (and keep it off for good), as well as feel, look, and be the best version of themselves. 

Through this period, he developed a formula, love, and method to achieve the sustainable success that positioned him to be known as “the weight-maintenance guy” and had people lining up to work with him. 

Paul was a multi-sport athlete as a teenager, which challenged and inspired him into being the coach and person he is today. 

He was active in almost every sport, and what he found that he enjoyed most was that he was 100% responsible for at least a component of the greater outcome. If he did what he was supposed to do and prepared properly he had control over the output. And that fascinated him. It gave him a sense of ownership at a young age. Specifically individual sports such as golf and tennis. 

So his foundation to preparation, and put in the time and effort was really laid during this time in his life. 

Having a foundation like that can be integral to success in any area and aspect of our life. 

He shares how he also became involved in bodybuilding, what he learned during that time, and how he just enjoyed the journey.

He also talks about the success he has seen in his clients, and how he incorporates what he has learned from his past into the work he now does as a coach.

Also…..since this episode is debuting at the very beginning of January, Paul also is giving us advice on what kind of goals people should set and what helps them sustain their New Year’s Resolutions!
