Episode 78: Navigating Boundaries in Relationships & Life | Dr. Vijayeta Sinh

“Even though the mind can be a force of creativity, growth, expansion, love, and all these great, wonderful things, it can also dive us deep into the ditch if it’s not healthy and functioning well.”

These powerful words from my guest today are a reminder that our mental health has a major impact on our lives. We put a lot of effort into healing physical pain and making sure our bodies are okay, but healing our minds can be more complicated.

That’s why I’m so glad to have with me Dr. Vijayeta Sinh, a therapist, relationship coach, and founder of Therapy Couch NYC. Born in India, her style of therapy is influenced by both Eastern and Western wisdom – and she drops tons of wisdom in our conversation today.

In this episode, Dr. V talks about how you can boost your mental health by learning more about yourself and how your mind works. She also has great advice for handling relationships, such as romantic and work relationships. If you want to know how you can have better mental health, you’ll want to hear Dr. V’s wise words.

Here are this episode’s highlights:

  • (7:23) Dr. V’s thoughts on why society still has a stigma against people seeking mental health treatment

  • (10:44) How does your subconscious mind work and what influences it? Dr. V explains

  • (17:20) This is one of the most common problems couples have that causes a strain on their relationships

  • (22:25) Dr. V’s advice on how to navigate work-life balance in a society that’s still not completely normal from the pandemic

  • (27:44) Dr. V’s tips for anyone who’s trying to negotiate with someone or create a boundary (boss, coworker, romantic partner, etc)

  • (30:50) Dr. V reveals how she uses her stress to learn more about herself and her emotions

Your mind is incredible and complex, and it’s part of what makes you unique. As Dr. V said, “All the answers that we seek are within us, within our health, within our mystical mind.” To learn more about your mind, tune in to this intriguing episode!
