Home Cooking Good for the Soul, Better on the Bank Account
Confessions of a woman who never cooked a real meal until her late 20s. Growing up in a community surrounded by "what take-out option can I have today?" I never understood the value of a Home Cooked meal. When I headed to college, I went in with the same mentality grab, go, shove down my gullet, repeat. In classes I would lose focus and constantly be hungry so afterwards I would find the nearest Subway or a convenient store to buy a salty snack. Habitual routine started to take a toll on my body and by 28 I had gained 15 lbs post college. Even though I was a Pilates Trainer, I didn't recognize that all the so called healthy food had ingredients that were wrecking havoc on my immune system. When it came down to it I knew I needed to make a change so why not give Home Cooking a try?
My life completely changed for the better both mentally and physically. Home cooking has become my favorite part of the day as it is my time to relax. My hands are at work creating something delicious for my body and it's truly made with love. The best part are the leftovers, the new recipes, and for me the music playing in the background. Ironically, every week I now save between $75-$150 because I'm not making as many pit stops to those "take-out" places. Instead I'm able to save that money for vacation, my dog, and retirement.
The benefits of home cooking:
You know the ingredients going into your food
When you go on vacation you make healthier choices
The quality becomes more important than the quantity
Leftovers can be brought to work!
Save a ton money!!
