Episode 36: Finding Your Power Through Martial Arts | Sara Deacon

TUNE IN: APPLE PODCASTS | SPOTIFY | STITCHER

Martial arts, crafts, and coaching.  How do these all go together?

My guest today, Sara Deacon has amazing, inspiring talents, experience, and determination to learn, that has allowed her to combine all of these things together to transform both physically and mentally, and now helps others do the same!

Sara Deacon is a Life-Balance Coach based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is a life-long artist. She recently earned her first degree black belt in karate. She has held many roles over the years including customer service, childcare, martial arts instructor, and post-partum caregiver. She currently offers 1:1 coaching to help ambitious high achievers create balance between their professional passions, and personal relationships which allow them to experience peace, presence and pure joy beyond what they might think is possible!

How amazing?!?

In today’s episode, I ask Sara how she got started on her coaching journey.

Her response was, “I always wanted to be the best version of myself.” Her inspiration came from wanting to do right by her children, even before she had any!

I love that Sarah ties martial arts into her coaching.

“The consistency and the discipline have been invaluable over the last few years, in helping destress,” She said. Martial arts allows her to move her body, sweat, and punch to help reduce her stress.

Sara first came into martial arts through her children joining the program, and eventually she joined as well. She talks about how caring and connected her martial arts community is, and how it is so much more than just punching and kicking.

Sara’s martial art practice has shown her what is possible not just physically but with mental and emotional growth as well. There’s always another level to go to, whether that’s in martial arts or in personal development.

As a Doula she was able to give the parents the guidance and support that they needed in non-judgmental information and empathy that could actually be received. The identity struggle was huge with every single one of her clients. A new parent goes through an identity shift, and sometimes it was explicit and something she actually worked intentionally on, but a lot of times it was just underneath.

By working with her parent clients she realized she was already actively coaching them, which allowed her to flow into her coaching business.

Sara is so positive and inspiring!
