Positive Mindset during Times of Turmoil

Health is both mental and physical. This past week was a difficult one for me due to the recent attack on the Tree of Life Congregation’s patrons in Pittsburgh.

Eleven people were murdered by a self-proclaimed Anti-Semitic and it really made me wonder what has our world become today. Places of worship, school shootings, and public events should be a safe haven to bring communities together not divide or make people fearful to be a part of them.

So how do you keep a positive mindset through all of this hate? I’ve done a lot of reflection and though I can’t solve the world’s problems I can choose to be more proactive. I need to look forward at our future and try to make a dent in my own community. Here are 5 action steps I’m going to take on starting today:

I pledge to myself that instead of hiding I’m going to start patching up the holes in our system and volunteer to organizations I feel need support.

I commit to being more understanding to people that don’t share the same views as me. It’s important we acknowledge and celebrate our differences.

I vow to be more present in my surroundings.

I promise to give myself 5 min each day to meditate in silence.

Lastly, I will use this quote as a mantra to make even the worst of times more tolerable.

“Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.”  —Anne Frank

What are 5 action steps you’d like to take to make your life and the world a better place?
