How to Finish Strong for Quarter 4
When you look back on this year, do you feel disappointed because you think you haven’t achieved enough?
I encourage you to shift your mindset here. Instead of beating yourself up for the things you didn’t do, think about the progress you did make, both personally and professionally. Skip the negative self-talk and take a moment to praise yourself for all your efforts.
Bring that positive attitude with you into the new year! What do you hope to accomplish next year? Write it down, then think about what you can do today to start making progress. So often, we wait until the beginning of the new year to do things. But what if you took a few action steps now?
I know taking action can feel intimidating. If you’re procrastinating, it could be because you’re afraid of messing up. But you don’t have to be perfect. It’s okay to mess up! People who mess up and keep trying again and again are the ones who succeed.
By making moves now, you’ll have a strong finish for Q4 and a good head start on next year’s goals. Try a few of the ideas below:
Personal
Start a new fitness regimen.
Search YouTube for fitness tutorials.
Look up healthy meal ideas to improve your diet.
Make that doctor’s appointment you’ve been putting off.
Hire a personal trainer or nutrition coach. (You can explore my coaching services here!)
Relationships
Reconnect with loved ones you don’t live with. It’s as simple as sending them a quick message letting them know you’re thinking about them and asking them how they’re doing.
Strengthen your relationship with loved ones you do live with. Make plans with them for a fun, no-stress activity you can do together.
Look up groups on sites like Meetup, Facebook Groups, or Reddit to connect with people in your local area who share a hobby with you.
Professional
Reach out to your dream contacts who can further you in your career. (Don’t assume they won’t respond… you might be surprised!)
Look up networking events you can attend.
Sign up for an online certification course to build your professional skills.
Update and improve your resume/website/portfolio.
If you want to start a business, try writing a business plan.
If you have a service-based business, reach out to your best former clients and ask if they’re interested in working with you again.
Intellectual and creative
Start searching for books and courses to help you learn a new language.
Look on Pinterest for recipes so you can improve your cooking skills.
Take out a notebook or open a new computer document and try some creative writing.
Boost your intelligence: Buy new books or check them out from the library.
Sign up for an art class to unleash your creativity.
Which one of these ideas are you ready to take action on today? You don’t need to wait for the Times Square ball to drop. Finish this year on a high note, and you’ll have unstoppable momentum going into next year!
